Best till last
Eloise and I had the most amazing experience today. I didn't really know what to expect from swimming with sea lions. Apart from my wedding day and the birth of the kids this turned out to be the best day of my life ( have to say that so no one gets offended). Swimming with the sea lions was .....words fail me. Amazing, beyond belief, extraordinary, deeply moving, and verging on spiritual. For the briefest second i considered quiting life and moving to a seal colony (aka Jane and the gorillas).
After we dropped anchor and got the gear happening snorkels, wet suits etc. We slid into the ice water, I'm talking seriously cold we jumped up and down splashes and generally made the impression of having fun. The big male seal slipped into the water and came up an inch from my face.
So began an hour of playing in the water with these divine creatures. All they want is to play and frolic. I dived, splashed turned and somersaulted. They swam with me around me, over me and so close to me my heart beat so fast it was truly exhilarating.
I was the last person back on the boat i couldn't bring myself to leave my new friends.
I know I'll close my eyes tonight and see the beautiful underwater dance of me and my friends the sea lions.
Ps.i dont have an under water camera so no.action shots!

Such a perfect day
There is a song by Lou Reed, That has the line "its such a perfect day, I'm glad I spent it with you". Such an apt description for our day at Eliston. Travelling down the coast to the Eyre Penisula we stopped at the tiny town of Eliston and after setting up drove to the beautiful beach. It was 5 o'clock by the time we got there but smart mum packed food so we could stay late. It had been a 40 degree day and we now know our car air con stops functioning at over 40 so the drive that day, once it conked out was gruelling.
At the beachwe played and walked and swam and sang (yes really). The sun decended on the most perfect day and we played on until finally leaving the beach at 10pm.
I dont know why some days are so perfect as if touched by magic nothing can go wrong the stars align and everyone and everything seems to shine but I'm so grateful and joyous when they do.
